 Department of California

“Throughout California and across the world, high schools, colleges and universities are conducting award ceremonies as Academic Year 2017 – 2018 draws to a close.  Attending many of these California ceremonies to present the Military Order of the Purple Heart Leadership Award are Patriots from across the state, many of whom travel great distances to make award presentation to a qualified underclassman.  This prestigious award has been presented since 1992, in recognition of a deserving underclassman in each ROTC and JROTC unit as part of the Youth Activities Program of the Order.

Although many chapters are anxiously engaged in this program of recognition, the Department is seeking to increase each chapter's participation in meeting the MOPH National objectives of having at patriot at each and every ceremony to which we are invited. As chapters meet in the coming months, it is requested that the subject of the ROTC/JROTC Leadership Award program will be on each agenda in preparation for increased participation in the upcoming Academic Year 2018-2019.

Details on the program are on the MOPH National website at http://www.purpleheart.org/ROTC/.  If you still have questions, please contact Skip Curtis, ROTC and JROTC Coordinator for Department of California or Charles Anderson, Department Junior Vice Commander.
