February; Black History Month
Each February, MOPH Department of California joins the entire country in celebrating Black History Month. During this month, we celebrate all Black Americans, Purple Heart Recipient and Veterans who have served and sacrificed for this nation in every conflict since the American Revolution.
Black History Month is celebrated each year in February to recognize the significant contributions that Black Americans have made in our nation’s history. It is a time to collectively celebrate racial pride, assess our nation’s commitment to the ideals of freedom, and reflect on and commemorate the struggle for freedom and equality.

Americanism
The purpose of the Americanism Program is to work with schools and other organizations to help promote U.S. history and the quest for freedom. It is administered by the National Americanism Officer.
Military Order of the Purple Heart Members may request Americanism items for a small fee by using our Online Ordering Form, or downloading an Americanism Order form and mailing it in. Items should be used to promote Patriotism and to recruit new Members into the Order.
