Commander Charles Earthman
Department of California
2018 - 2020
Going into my second term as Commander, I am honored to serve this Department and all Veterans of California. In the last year, the Military Order of the Purple Heart in California has faced dwindling memberships in our Chapters, wild fire disasters throughout our state, and a financial crisis that threatens the very existence of the Order. Despite these adversities, I believe in this organization and look forward with positive optimism to a future with new directions and ideas that will reshape the Military Order of the Purple Heart and give us a new and solid foundation to rest our future on.
This coming fiscal year the Department will have new funding sources that we hope will revitalize MOPH in California. It is my hope that, with these new funding methods, the Department and Chapters will take a more active role in our communities through volunteerism and hosting community events that bring light to our mission. We should work with other veteran organizations in our state to promote veterans’ rights, improve VA services, and make transitions back into the community better for veterans and their families. We should also redouble efforts to bring in OEF/OIF Patriots into MOPH to maintain the legacy of Purple Heart and lead the Order into the future.
It is an honor to serve the Department of California as your Commander and I will always strive to maintain an open communication link with the membership and all veterans in our great state. The challenges we face require a team effort and I am confident that, together, we can succeed.
